Faith communities have a unique role in the lives of individuals and families. Each faith tradition has its own beliefs, commitments, rituals, and resources that help to minimize alcohol and other drug problems and support recovery from addiction. Combining the resources of religion and spirituality with those of science and medicine enhances the prevention and treatment of substance abuse and strengthens recovery. With the support of Reviving the Human Spirit (RTHS) resources, faith communities provide research-based prevention, intervention, and recovery support within their congregations and surrounding communities.
If you would like assistance in finding publications specific to your faith or needs, please contact the sponsoring organizations of the Faith Community Initiative, who can help you.
